On a wing and a prayer two kiwi’s have thrown themselves headfirst out of their comfort zone and entered the Rebelle Rally, an all-female, all-navigation road rally. Armed with kiwi ingenuity and skills developed tearing around the farm on quads, Katy Kunkel and her friend Frank are preparing to compete against an international field this October.

All navigational means no Siri – all devices are prohibited bar a compass and a topographical map.  The ladies trained for sand at Muriwai and more recently learned technical 4×4 skills in North Carolina.  Their goal is to survive the snakes and scorpions over the 7 days and to finish.  Jucy RV Rentals have stepped up and backed their campaign, as they have been operating on the West Coast since 2013. Jucy’s ‘embrace the wrong turn and take the scenic route’ philosophy is the perfect match for Katy and Frank who are thrilled to have the support of a kiwi brand.   Follow them on FB here. 2nd NZ LADY – “Oh, what’s she like?”
1st NZ LADY – “Very tolerant. She told me on the quiet she thinks she loves her dog more than she loves Potholes. But then she said, he slobbers all the time, he’s always hungry, and he won’t stop humping her leg even if she swats him with a newspaper. The dog doesn’t do that stuff.”
